The 2023 regular session ended in the wee hours of Saturday, April 1, as we voted on House Bill 603, the final appropriation bill to come before us. The measure contained a number of items that will benefit Tallahatchie County and the City of Charleston.

Last week, we addressed a longstanding issue involving law enforcement and mentally ill subjects. House Bill 1222 provides that in the future, law enforcement responders will be trained on how to respond effectively to subjects who are suffering from mental illness.
