West Tally far from home in second round of playoffs

WEBB — The West Tallahatchie Choctaws whitewashed the Leake County Gators 42-0 in a first-round playoff game Friday night, Nov. 3.
It was the Choctaws’ first state playoff win since 2017 and the program's fourth since 2004.
The Choctaws improved to 6-4 on the campaign while Leake’s season ended at 2-9.

Charleston prepares for second-round home playoff game this week

Charleston High School will host the 4-7 Philadelphia Tornadoes in a second-round state playoff game Friday night. Kickoff at Tiger Stadium will be at 7.
Last week, Philadelphia spanked Water Valley 48-15.

Cole, Hawkins win local positions

Incumbent District 3 Supervisor Larry Cole retained his seat, and Anthony "Tony" Hawkins became the first Black candidate ever to win election to the position of coroner in Tallahatchie County, according to unofficial results from Tuesday's general election.
