- Tallahatchie County unemployment jumped to 7.8 percent in May, but that rate still was the lowest recorded for the month in eight years.
The Mississippi Department of Employment Security, which compiles the state’s employment data, noted that 470 members of the county’s 5,970-person labor force were unemployed in May.
