Paynes water system down for up to 3 days

UPDATE: Paynes Water Association President Thad Roberts said Saturday morning (July 3) that the system is back up and running.
“We are back in business,” he noted. “Well is operating like it should.” Roberts said customers are still advised to boil system water until 8 Friday night.

Sheriff's office looking for man who took items from hunting camp

UPDATE (10:35 a.m., Monday, June 30): Tallahatchie County Sheriff Jimmy Fly said officials have identified and taken into custody the man who allegedly perpetrated this crime. He said more information will be forthcoming.

Don't fall for local telephone scam mentioning sheriff's office

A new scam claiming to involve the local sheriff's office is making the rounds in Tallahatchie County, Sheriff Jimmy Fly said Friday evening.

He said his office has learned that residents are receiving robo calls in which the caller mentions back fines and seeks personal information to help resolve the matter.
