We had our regular monthly meeting this last week, with a good turnout. We were called to order by our president, Virginia Murphree.
Our devotion was presented by Brenda Wilkinson. It was a very needful subject: It is God’s nature to bless.
The thing that made me stop and catch my breath is that our pastor’s brother, Bro. Bobby Duncan, preached on the same thing Sunday morning in church and the first thing he said was that it was God’s nature to bless.
But He never intended to bless us and have it stop there. That would not really help a lot of his people.
In Psalm 67, we are told that the Lord blesses us so that His salvation, His ways and His justice may be known by every nation and people. When we look around us and see the multitude of people out there that don’t even think about coming to church, you know the job is far from done.
We pray so often for something and ask “if it be God’s will,” and to tell the truth, if it doesn’t fit close to what our will wanted then we are disappointed and we are prone to blame God, but we got His will, and that was a blessing that we did.
When God blesses us, He is doing something through us that can bless the lives of others, but we have to do our part in getting the news out there.
Our fruit baskets went to Judy Martin, Brenda Wilkinson and Teresa Criswell, with the hope and prayers that they will be better before long
Then we spent the rest of our time making sure we had everything planned for our rummage sale and for the catfish meal we will enjoy. Remember, it will include two pieces of fish, fries, hush puppies, slaw, tea and dessert. Price of the plate is $15.
The rummage sale will be on Friday, Aug. 1, and the fish fry will be on Saturday, Aug. 2.
Then we were given some of the good food that was provided by Judy Martin and Virginia Murphree.
