Love and sympathy to the Steve Rose family of Tillatoba. Steve died peacefully in his sleep at his son’s home. He made his home with his son, Jake and Roseann Rose.
Steve was a kind and gentle soul and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
It’s been a good weekend celebrating, Jake says. His mom, Ginger Harrison, says he finished college at DSU in July. On Friday they attended the graduation ceremony. “We are very proud of Jake and his hard work. After the ceremony we had supper with moma at Jake and Rips in Grenada where we all had a great time. We have also been celebrating husband, Phil, this weekend as his birthday is on Monday. Sunday lunch at Diane Hill’s was great. She made him a fabulous red velvet cake for his birthday,” says Ginger.
Saturday, Dec. 14, Brad, Frankie and Bradley Holliday traveled to Memphis with Joe Harville, Bentley Alexander, Tucker Harrison, and Ryder Millwood to celebrate Bradley’s birthday. They ate at Olive Garden before going to a Christmas-themed haunted house. They all had a scary good time.
Sunday, daughter Donna, Frankie and Bradley came for a visit. Bradley was telling us how scary the Christmas haunted house was for them. They had a great time, though, and I can hardly believe that my first great-grandchild will be a teenager in a short year!
“l can still Twist and Shout, but Rocking and Rolling is on hold for now,” says Martha Box. “Great experience at grandson Jake Harrison’s college graduation Friday. Wasn’t it just yesterday he started 1st grade? My, how time is flying. Enjoyed a great meal with them afterward.”
“Great visit at Willow Springs AOG Sunday. Music and message that so lifted me up. On the way to church I heard Gene Autry sing “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” One of my favorite Christmas songs. Bro. Tommy shared the history of that song and songwriter during his spectacular message. Now I call that a wow — just for me moment. Great to see my family and friends. They fed me so well, I will have to fast till Christmas,” Martha said. She said her sweet cousin Charley Darby walked “this old broke-footed gal” back to her car.
Saturday night, Tommy and Debbie McCool had their family Christmas supper. Son Christopher and Samantha McCool and their son Hayden came from Senatobia. The other son, Hunter, had to work. He is a park ranger at Arkabutla Park. Daughter Angela, Patrick and P.J. Dukes came; daughter Kimberly, Jason and Caitlyn Beavers were there; and also Hannah Beavers and her friend, Dallas, along with Dallas’ brother, Denver. They all had a great time, ate too much and exchanged gifts. She said she tries to get them all together before Christmas so they can be home on Christmas Day. We do the same, Debbie.
Allison Dukes from Theodore, Alabama, came for a couple days visit last week. Deborah said it was great to see her. She had to be back at work Friday. She works at a nursing home.
Rowland Hartley killed a hog here in Tillatoba while deer hunting. I had no idea we had wild hogs here in Tillatoba.
Johnny Tillman saw a mountain lion two different times here in Tillatoba — once while hunting with his daddy, John Tillman, and a few years later while he was on his mail route. Years ago, I had a black panther in my back yard. He was gone like a streak of lightning after seeing me, and so was I!
Kristie Hartley and Annie Box went to Fort Worth, Texas, for a rodeo. You girls keep on having fun!
Happy birthday to Phil Harrison the 16th; Kristie Hartley, Judy Arnold Lambert and Angie Waldo on the 18th; Elouise Parker on the 20th; and Mae Brannon White the 21st. May you all have a great day celebrating your special day.

I always think of my sister, Joyce Weir, when I see this recipe. She made it every Christmas.
Thought for the day: At Christmas, all roads lead home.
