Our princess, Haven Rose Dukes, and another little princess, Joanna Pullen, Haven’s cousin, are ready for their very first “daughter-daddy” dance at school. The froufrou sequined dresses and the first set of high heels had two little princesses set on “go.” Their little wrist corsages just set their outfits off. So, watch out dance floor at North Delta School!
I’ve just got to brag on our daughter-in-law, Brandy Deck, and her mother, Teresa Dooley Bailey, of Southern Twist Interiors. They were nominated in the Top 5 under the category of “Home Interiors” in Hometown Madison Magazine’s “Best of the Best” contest. “To say we are shocked is an understatement!” said Brandy. “There are countless people responsible for helping us along the way!” I have seen some of their work and they do a beautiful job.
Martha Box said she is still sassy and kicking but it is still on one foot! “I am a bit tired of this down foot elevated life,” she said. “But hey, I am planning on a real big kick off in a few weeks.” Martha said she is happy, wealthy and wise by the Lord’s grace. She said she is still blessed with great care from all her family and friends. Her sister, Patty, has come from Texas and plans a long stay. Martha said it is so good to see her. Brother Jesse Wortham picked her up when he went to Texas. Martha enjoyed a great visit from daughter Ginger, Phil and the boys. Diane Hill sent her a lovely cake and fruit sauce that made her smile. Martha, you are gonna be spoiled rotten before this is over with, but that’s all right. You deserve it.
Milton Harper had a little scare Saturday morning when his defibrillator shocked him. He ended up in the Oxford hospital but after a few days of tests and treatments he’s doing good!
Diane Dukes went to Greenville Saturday to see her sister, Ellen Parker. Ellen’s birthday is the 17th of February. She’ll turn 81. Kathy Dukes and Terri Dukes went with Diane and they took her a birthday cake. Diane said they had lunch down there and then stopped in Greenwood and did some shopping. Diane is now taking therapy for her hip and she is feeling so much better since she started therapy. Diane brought home hot tamales. “Everybody wanted some so I brought them home. They always enjoy eating them,” she said.
Joey and Katelyn McClanahan of Jackson and Shelby Dewitt visited Bobby Joe McClanahan and family during the weekend.
Deborah McCool said they are doing good. They had three grandkids sick with the flu last week but she said they are getting better finally. Tommy finally got his old employee back and can start getting his Sundays off from now on, said Deborah, who noted that they got up Sunday morning and went to breakfast in Batesville like they used to do, did a little Walmart shopping and got back home and went to church. Afterward, they were lazy and just did nothing the rest of the day. I love those kinds of days, Deborah.

Recipe for the week: “Lemon Cheesecake Crescent Rolls”
Ingredients:
2 cans refrigerator crescent rolls dough
8 oz. cream cheese softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Zest of one lemon
Juice of one lemon
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, zest of one lemon and juice of one lemon. I used a lime!
Unroll crescent roll dough and place a spoonful of the mixture on the wide end of each triangle. Roll up the crescent rolls and place on a greased baking sheet. Cook for 12 or 15 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly until dusting with powdered sugar. These are so easy to make and so good!
