Love and sympathy to the Dorothy Arnold Champion family of Ferriday, Louisiana. Dot passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 23, with her husband, Sidney, by her side. Dot was originally from Oakland and her husband, “Sonny” Champion, was from Charleston.
Love and sympathy to the Patricia “Pat” Craig family of Grenada. Pat and her late husband, Little Jack Craig, were residents of Tillatoba at one time. Pat was such a sweet person and will be sorely missed by not only her family but by everyone who knew her.
A birthday party for Andrew ( Andy) Pullen was given at Cossar State Park Saturday afternoon. Andrew is the son of Sam and Anna Pullen with a big sister, Joanna Pullen; two grandmothers, Terri Dukes Pullen and Loretta Jackson; great-grandmothers Diane Vance, Elizabeth Pullen and Diane Dukes; and two grandfathers John Jackson and Brother Harvey Vance. Diane said there were a lot of people there and she couldn’t remember all their names. Andrew‘s favorite buddy, Waylon Dalton Dukes Jr., and Waylon’s big sister, Haven Rose, couldn’t attend because of sickness and Andrew’s great-grandparents, Billy and Nancy Chambers, weren’t feeling well enough to attend either. Billy and Nancy have been sick, so keep them in your prayers.
Martha Box was teaching her big sister, Pat, how to make scrumptious cornbread and cream cheese breakfast rolls while she is here visiting and helping Martha. Martha said she is healing, working and praying toward it and is still being spoiled by sisters and brother, her kids and grands. “Missing my up and at ’em ability, but piddling about cleaning out old paperwork, etc.,” said Martha.
Ginger, Phil, Ben and Melinda Harrison brought a great home-cooked lunch over Sunday, said Martha, who explained that as much as Joyce, Patty and Jesse feed her daily, she has had to increase her chair exercises. Martha said she has a doctor’s appointment Thursday and will know more then.
Our visitors Sunday were Brad, Frankie and Bradley Holliday and daughter Donna, all from Grenada. Frankie brought up some homemade sour dough bread she had made and I had made chicken salad. Boy, was it good on her bread! Frankie is a great cook!
