Union Cemetery operates on donations. When you visit Union Cemetery, you should want the final resting place of your loved ones to be a place you can be proud of. The maintenance and upkeep never stop. Please consider repairing the tombstones of your family or friends. Many of these are in a sad state and Union Cemetery is not responsible for monuments whether they have sunken, fallen over or have come apart. Some have toppled over onto the ground. Grass cutting, weed eating and picking up flowers that have blown out of the vases onto the ground has to be done regularly. Everyone should want to be, and I hope does want to be, a part of the care of the cemetery. Therefore, will you please consider donating for the upkeep of the cemetery where your family and friends are buried? Donations can be mailed to: Lee Ann Howe, 8011 CR 154, Tillatoba, MS 38961. Checks are to be made out to: Union Cemetery Fund.
Belated happy Father’s Day to all you fathers. I hope all of you had a blessed and wonderful day with your children and family.
David wanted chicken and dumplings and slaw, so that’s what he got. Daughter Donna brought up a beautiful white cake with white icing. Brad and Frankie Holliday and son Bradley and Tim Sullivan joined us.
Love and sympathy to the Al Irwin family of Charleston. Al passed away Sunday morning, June 15. Love and prayers for the family. Al and his daddy worked at the Tillatoba Truck Stop while I was there and you couldn’t ask for anyone nicer.
Ginger Harrison said they had a great day celebrating Phil on Father’s Day. His mother, Diane Hill, made him a nice lunch and a red velvet cake. Of course, it was all good.
Martha Box said she attended church by Facebook last Sunday. During the week, she went by the Ole Corner Store for lunch several times. She said they fed her well and she really loves the taco salad. She thanked Shantel, Marie, Candy and Mckenzie “for such good cooking, service and fun lunches.”
Martha said there was a wonderful Father’s day message from Bro. Tommy Darby at Willow Springs Assembly of God. He brought out so many daddy memories and the should do’s for young parents! “To hear my great nephew John Box giving such a spirit-filled Sunday school message touched my heart,” said Martha. “So happy to have such good fathers in my boys Ben Box and Phil Harrison. Love and respect to all the great fathers we know, the greatest being our Father God!”
Saturday, Tommy and Deborah McCool and granddaughter Caitlyn Beavers went to Thunder on Water for a while. Deborah won a prize from the B100 house number game. She got a $50 gift certificate from Dewayne’s in Holcomb. Then they went to the car show and looked at all the beautiful cars. Later, Caitlyn and sister Hannah went back to ride a few rides and get funnel cakes. On Sunday, Deborah went to church and then she cooked chicken and dressing for Father’s Day for all the family. She worked in the yard later and then went to put fresh flowers on the graves of her mom, dad and her sister, Patsy.

Our recipe of the week, courtesy of Frankie Holliday, is something your children can make for a snack that is simple, easy and safe. It takes only three ingredients:
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup peanut butter
3 cups Cheerios
Heat honey and peanut butter until creamy in the microwave. Take out and stir in 3 cups of Cheerios. Refrigerate for 15 minutes. Eat and enjoy.
Thought for the day: If you look at what you have in life, you will have more. If you look at what you don’t have, you’ll never have enough.
