Sadie Harper is disappointed in the shot in her knee. It has not helped the pain. She says she is using ointment and spray to help with the pain so she can walk.
Sadie’s son and daughter-in-law, Mit and Dea, are in Italy for a week vacation. They met in Sicily 38 years ago and fell in love. They wanted to go back and see the country again.
Sheila O’Bryant is having surgery Friday, July 25, in Tupelo to remove the screw in her middle toe that has not fixed her foot problem.

Ginger Harrison and friends, Sherry Carter, Michelle Norwood and Tympel Harrison, took a little trip to Georgia this weekend! They visited the town of Juliette, Georgia, and ate at the Whistle Stop Cafe! “Thanks to Tympel for planning everything and Chelle for driving! Sherry and I are the best back seat riders ever!” Ginger said. Ginger and friends stayed in an Airbnb in Macon, Georgia, with a pool on a lake and had the best time just being together. They hit every shop in Juliette on Friday afternoon after a “fabulous meal.” On Saturday, they hit every antique store that Chelle and Tympel could find! They headed back to Alabama to Sherry’s house late Saturday evening for a great meal at her local Mexican restaurant and more just relaxing and talking. “All of us went home with Chilton County peaches and a few of Landon Carter’s tomatoes!” said Ginger. “A great little break was had by all and we cannot wait to be together again!”
Deborah McCool said she, husband Tommy McCool and some guests had a great time Sunday. After church, they cooked out hamburgers, hot dogs and smoked sausages with side dishes of baked beans, slaw and french fries. “It was good,” said Deborah. Kimberly, Jason and Caitlyn Beavers came, and granddaughter Hannah and Dallas Boyett made it, too. Dallas was up early working on putting up fencing for someone. He has been busy replacing the fence on his farm. Angela and PJ Dukes had to work at the hospital and Pat Dukes was working around the house so they missed out. Christopher McCool didn't make it because they don't go much since his mom-in-law is in bad health, she lives with them and they care for her. His birthday is the 29th. Everyone ate a lot and then they sat around outside just visiting and talking.
Angela Dukes said Peggy Bailey told her she would love to see some old friends from church. She is in the nursing home at Charleston hospital.
Martha Box said Sunday morning, “It Gets Sweeter as the Day Goes By.” She said it took too long “for this ole gal with a screaming foot , a hollering knee, and two moaning rotator cuffs to get dressed — so long, I walked in church just as it started.” And, yes, Martha said it felt as if Dave Box and the girls were singing that song to her! She enjoyed a wonderful message about the miraculous power of belief in following Jesus. “Bro. Tommy Darby, you certainly followed the spirit’s direction as you taught us today!” Martha noted.
After church, Martha Box was fed by Diane Hill some of her fantastic chicken and dumplings when daughter Ginger, Phil and Josh Harrison came by. Then her little 5-year-old sweet niece had to come over to let the nurse tend to the bump on her head. “Well, of course, I gave her a healing kiss from Aunt Mott! Now all that tells you it is a great Sunday! Still not dancing to the music yet but walking better,” Martha said. (Sounds like to me you are doing great, Martha!)
Diane Dukes reports that Cossar State Park will have their first annual motorcycle show on Aug. 16. Remember, there is a $2 a person fee at the gatehouse. Cossar State Park will also have bingo again Aug. 20. Mark these dates on your calendar! The famous Ping Pong Paris has been out there playing and called numbers a few times.

Joke for the day: A man and a woman were traveling in a train. Every time the man smiled, the woman said, “Every time you smile, I feel like inviting you back to my place.” The man, intrigued, asked, “Awe, are you single?” The woman replied, “No, I am a dentist.”
