Good morning to all you readers out there. We are getting on into January pretty quick. Before you know it, it will be gone. As they say, another one bites the dust.
Looking out my kitchen window this morning, the ground looks like we had a light snow last night. I see the windmill twirling that we had put out to run the moles off. I also see the big pin oak tree, leaning to the right, that was planted in honor of my first grandson, William Dale Dukes Jr., and I’m wondering why I planted it so close to the house. We had it trimmed almost bare one time and when I first saw it, I wanted to cry. I thought it was ruined, but, lo and behold, it bushed out and is beautiful again. It stands tall like my grandson.
I’ve got to tell a little funny one on my husband, David. We were cooking spaghetti for Sunday dinner and I had laid everything out except the frozen bell peppers. He had the meat and onions going and asked where the bell peppers were. I told him and he dumped them in. I went to take a shower. Mind you, we are having company for dinner. I told him I was going to put the spices in when I got out of the shower and he says, “I forgot to tell you but that was chopped okra I put in by mistake.” Oh, well, he tried! I’m making him an appointment with the eye doctor today!

Bubba Tillman attended the visitation services for Ronald Terry Ramage Friday, Dec. 30, at Pryor Funeral Home in Calhoun City.
Peggy Bailey finally made it home Friday after being in the hospital and the Grenada Living Center for three months. I know you are happy to be back home. No more coon hunting for you, Peggy! Eugene will have to go solo from now on.
Sheila Jackson, Wanda Crawford, Jessie Williams and Debbie Hayles met at Enid Catfish Hut Sunday and enjoyed a great meal.
Martha Box said she had slowed down so much her motor is in idle mode. She took time off from must-do’s and rested. Spent Saturday and Sunday alone with feet up. Said she was resting up for a busy next few weeks. She did have supper with her sister, Joyce Stevens, Saturday night. Great seafood meal at the Catfish Hut at Enid.
Larry Franklin of Hardy stopped by Sunday and visited on his way home from Oxford hospital. Larry was going home to get some rest before going back to the hospital. His wife, Cheryl, had heart surgery Friday. Cheryl was still in ICU Sunday but doing some better.
Please keep all the sick, lost and homeless in your daily prayers.
My recipe for this week: Caramel Apple Cobbler
Box of yellow cake mix
2 cans apple pie filling
1 jar of caramel
1 stick of butter
Butter a 9x13 pan. Add your apple pie filling on top. Add dry cake mix then drizzle caramel over the cake mix.
Pour one stick of melted butter over it all. Bake in a 350-degree preheated oven for 45 minutes.
Thought for the day: One thing you can learn by watching the clock is that it passes time by keeping its hands busy.
