Diane Dukes says she is trying to get her swimming pool open for the summer. Maybe next week. She said just getting everything out and putting it where it goes is a job by itself. Heather Henderson, who owns Blooming Farms, made Diane a beautiful flower arrangement to go out by the pool area.

Martha Box said Jesus is still real and keeps her “up and trying to be the Superwoman I used to be!” Martha stayed around the house all last week piddling, as old Mississippi grannies say! She had a great lunch at Corner Store Wednesday and also enjoyed fish with Brother Jesse on another day! Martha has coffee with the neighbors at the truck stop Monday through Friday at 3 p.m. “Y’all come see us!” Martha said.
Debbie McCool wished a belated “Happy Memorial Day to you all.” She said she and Tommy got up early one morning and went to Batesville for breakfast. They had not done that in a while. Then they just went riding, ending up in Clarksdale. They rode around looking, as they had lived there many years ago. They went by the old places, but they said nothing is the same there anymore.

Recipe for the week: Onion Baked Pork Chops
1 envelope, Lipton onion soup mix
8 pork chops
2/3 cups dry bread crumbs
2 eggs, well beaten
Preheat oven to 350°. Combine onion soup mix with the bread crumbs. Dip chops in egg, then in the bread crumb mixture, coating well. Place in lightly greased, large, shallow baking pan and drizzle, if desired, with melted butter. Bake, turning once, one hour or until chops are tender.
Thought for the day: When we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives, but are grateful for the abundance that is present, we truly experience heaven on earth.
