Jake Rose is in the hospital in Southaven. Please pray, friends and family, and keep him and his family in your prayers,
Sunday was Bro. Ricky Harris’ birthday and the congregation gathered around him and sang “Happy Birthday!” I know he enjoyed that!
Get well wishes to Wendy Harrell Dorby, who stepped on a sweet gum ball coming out of the veterans’ museum in Tupelo Thursday and broke her foot.
Martha Box said it was a busy week. Candy Box had to go to the ER again. Sick and weak, they had to rehydrate her system. They will follow up with more tests, Martha said. On Friday, she said a group of hardworking and skilled tree cutters had to take down a tree on the property. “Brought me to tears as they took down the sliver maple tree Honey and I had planted on our 25th anniversary,” Martha said. On a great Sunday, Martha visited Pine Grove Baptist Church and said she was lifted up as the choir sang “He Touched Me!” Bro. Truman Scarborough brought thoughts on why we love Jesus, because He first loved us!
I had a good visit with Sis Joyce Stevens and Debbie on the porch Sunday evening. That chocolate cake and chocolate coffee were a treat. I started planning the diet as I enjoyed the first scrumptious bite!
Diane Dukes said George Cossar State Park is open again. They have made a lot of improvements and hope everyone will come out and enjoy the park and meet the new manager, Brandon Sims from Charleston. They are also having Bingo Wednesday, June 17, from 2-4 p.m. Must be 55 or older. They are hoping for a big turnout. Ping Pong Paris will once again be calling the numbers. Everyone enjoys him.
Diane and your writer share two great grandchildren, Haven Rose and Waylon Jr., who they call Dub. They went swimming and Dub had the best time shooting a big water gun. After playing in the pool, Haven Rose, Waylon Jr. Dukes and Joanna Pullen attended a birthday party for Coy Havens, a cousin of Haven Rose and Waylon Jr. They had a great time. Tre Tre and Paw Havens, better known as Lisa and Tommy Havens, also have a pool that they played in and I’m sure the kids slept good Sunday night.
My great-grandson, Bradley Holliday, is going on his first mission trip with Emmanuel Baptist Church. They are going to Shocco Springs, Alabama. We are praying for a Christ-filled week and a servant’s heart.
Debbie and Tommy McCool went to Alabama and spent the weekend with their granddaughter, Allison, and great-granddaughter Lily Rose. Debbie said she got lots of holding and loving from her sweet great-grandbaby and had a great trip. They had a cookout for Allison’s birthday on Sunday. She is 25. Allie’s mother and daddy, Angela and Patrick Dukes, were there also.
Jacque and Adam Chambers finally got to take the new boat out Saturday evening to the Tillatoba lake. “We took our little dog and she is gonna be a boat dog for sure,” said Jacque. “I laid out while Adam fished but didn't catch anything. We started treasure hunting with our dip net. We found all kinds of corks.” Jacque said she was digging in the brushes with the dip net and was so glad they were alone. Otherwise, she noted, “I am sure I would have been mistaken for a crazy person.”
Mrs. Betty Sue Chambers started her radiation treatments Wednesday in Tupelo. Betty will have them for a week. Her daughter, Wanda Sue Winters, and daughter-in-law, Jenny Chambers, have been taking her.
Jacque Chambers’ father-in-law, Gary Chambers, cooked a seafood boil Saturday evening and they had all the fixings — shrimp, potatoes, corn, li’l smokies, mushrooms and pineapple. “Ooh-wee, it was so hot it made your lips tingle and nose run!” said Jacque, who made her famous grape salad and their friend Amanda Hughes made her TikTok chocolate cake that is absolutely delicious.
Amanda and Tim Hughes of Oakland celebrated their 27th year of marriage Sunday, June 14.

Thought for the day: There are three kinds of people in the world, those who are good at math, and those who aren’t.
