Christian love and sympathy to the Hunter Roberts family of Duck Hill. Hunter passed away Sunday, Aug. 9. Please pray for his family and for his many friends. Hunter had a winning personality and a kind heart.
Jacque Chambers reports they had their ladies meeting Wednesday at No Way Jose in Grenada. This is mostly Betty Sue Chambers’ sister, children, grandchildren and daughters-in-law and the late Mrs. Willie Beardain’s children and grandchild. They had not had one in a while.
Jacque Chambers met her sweet Mary Claire Murphy at the farmers market in Grenada Saturday morning. They ate mini pancakes and shopped. Jacque bought a crocheted opossum and Mary Claire got a puppy and a fidget thing. “Those ladies that sell them are so sweet and very talented,” said Jacque.
Adam and Jacque Chambers went out on the boat Sunday after having lunch with maw maw BettySue and her mother-in-law, Jenny Chambers, in Batesville. They went to Enid Lake. “I have always loved Enid and I think it’s one of the prettiest lakes we have close to us,” Jacque said.

Martha Box said she got so many wonderful and much needed hugs Saturday and Sunday! “As the song says, wouldn’t you like to ride in my beautiful balloon?” Martha asked. She noted that it is so hot, just put the eggs outside for a while.
Martha Box reported a “wonderful blessed Sunday morning at Pine Grove Baptist Church. So many loving people celebrating Sister Margaret’s 97th birthday. We can only hope we lead and touch all who know us as she has! What a story told by her family as she listened with such love in her eyes! And a beautiful message per Brother Scarborough. The Holy Spirit filled the building and all there. What great lifting up!” noted Martha, adding, “As the song says, ‘Blessed be the name of Jesus!’”
Your writer and David visited with two of our great-grands, Haven Rose and Waylon Jr., Sunday afternoon. She started the first grade Monday morning and from the looks of all the smiles she was having a great day. We didn’t get to visit with the baby because he slept the whole time we were there.
Happy anniversary to Gene and Lillian Standridge on the 13th and to Don and Jackie Bowman on the 14th. You boys need to dig deep in your pockets to come up with something nice after they have put up with you all these years.

Recipe for the week: Good morning cake
4 eggs
1 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of white sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup of self-rising flour
1/2 cup of melted butter
1 cup of pecans
Beat well by hand the ingredients after each addition. Beat eggs in a bowl. Add melted butter. Add brown sugar, white sugar, self-rising flour and cinnamon cloves. Last, fold in pecans gently
Cook at 400° for 30 minutes in a greased black iron skillet. Cover the top of the skillet lightly with foil paper while cooking.
Thought for the day: So far this week, I’ve been happy, grumpy and sleepy. I wonder which dwarf I will wake up as tomorrow.
