New date: Charleston parade set for Saturday, Dec. 17

Charleston Mayor Sedrick Smith Sr. said Monday that the Charleston Christmas parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 17, at 5 p.m.

Lineup will begin at 4 p.m. at the National Guard armory on South Cossar.

This is the third date announced for the parade.

Tutwiler hosts Christmas parade

TUTWILER — The annual Christmas parade was held here Friday night.

There was a chill in the air, but weather conditions were dry. Event organizers managed to squeeze the parade in between periods of rain that fell Thursday and were forecast to appear again Saturday.

Murphreesboro Volunteer Fire Department receives $5,000 donation

Marathon Pipe Line gave a $5,000 grant to the Murphreesboro Volunteer Fire Department for required equipment.
Through state and county funding, the department received a new fire truck earlier this year but needed to purchase new hoses, hose nozzles and air packs.
