The 12th Gateway to the Delta Festival will be held Saturday around Charleston’s courthouse square.
This largest festival in Tallahatchie County features a fun run/walk, arts and crafts, food trucks, class reunion tents, a large area of children’s games and activities, a children’s pageant, a car show and live musical entertainment throughout the day and into the night.
Admission is free.
The schedule is:
• 8 a.m.: Mayor’s Fun Run/Walk
• 8-11 a.m.: Car show
• 10 a.m.: Official welcome by Mayor Sedrick Smith, opening prayer by Rev. Carl Ray, National Anthem by Shelby Boone and introduction of the day’s master of ceremonies, Ping Pong Paris
• 10 a.m.: Kidz Zone opens
• 10:30-11:30 a.m.: Tiny Miss, Little Miss and Little Mr. Gateway pageant
• 12-1:15 p.m.: Hankins Family gospel music group
• 1:45-2:45 p.m.: Elvis impersonator Brian Lee Howell
• 3-4 p.m.: “Muddy” Alexander
• 4 p.m.: Kidz Zone closes
From 4-5 p.m., the CAREing Heart, car show, Hometown Hero and Volunteer of the Year awards will be given.
• 5-6:30 p.m.: S.L.A.S.H
• 7-8:30 p.m.: The Shot Gun Billys
• 9-11 p.m.: Twin Soul
