July unemployment fell to 3.0% in Tallahatchie County, a drop of seven-tenths of 1% from the revised June figure of 3.7%, the Mississippi Department of Employment Security announced Tuesday.
The MDES, which compiles the state’s employment data, noted that 150 members of the county’s 5,110-person labor force were unemployed in July. The labor force consists of everyone who has a job or is actively looking.
In June, 190 of 4,940 labor force members were jobless.
The county’s July unemployment rate was nine-tenths of 1% lower than the 3.9% figure of July 2023, when 190 of 4,910 available laborers 16 and older did not find work.
