Unemployment in Tallahatchie County fell from 4.2% in August to 3.5% in September, according to the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
MDES statistics show that in September, 4,210 people were employed, and 150 unemployed, among a labor force of 4,360. The labor force consists of everyone who has a job or is actively looking.
In August, 4,140 local residents were working, and 180 were unemployed, from a labor force totaling 4,320.

At 11.8%, Jefferson County had the state’s highest unemployment rate. At 2.2%, Lafayette, Rankin and Union counties shared the lowest.
