TUTWILER — Are you currently in need of a home? If so, West Tallahatchie Habitat for Humanity will begin distributing Habitat housing applications for planned House No. 48.
West Tallahatchie Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building or rehabbing houses and selling them to qualified applicants in need of decent, affordable housing. Volunteers come to Tutwiler to help build the houses. In return, West Tallahatchie Habitat for Humanity sells the house to a qualifying family on a 20- to 30-year no-interest mortgage loan basis with payments ranging from $250 to $300 a month.
The criteria that Habitat looks for are need for a home, ability to pay back the mortgage and a willingness to partner.
Starting Aug. 3, 2023, until Sept. 13, 2023, Habitat housing applications will be available at the West Tallahatchie Habitat Bargain Barn on Highway 49 in Tutwiler, on Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., or you may send a Habitat housing application email request to wthabitat@yahoo.com.
All applications must be completed, with the proper requested documents attached and turned in, by Sept. 13, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. No applications will be taken after the deadline.
Call Sherri Hilliard, volunteer affiliate coordinator, at the Habitat office at 662-345-6200 or 662-645-0694 if you have any questions.
