SENATOBIA — Sylvia Hickey of near Charleston was one of two new members of the Northwest Mississippi Community College Board of Trustees welcomed to their seats during the February meeting.
Hickey is one of two NWCC Board of Trustees members who represent Tallahatchie County. That board is the college's highest governing body.
Hickey's appointment filled a vacancy in the boardroom caused by the recent death of longtime NWCC board member David Hargett of near Charleston. Hargett had served on the Northwest board for more than three decades.
Hickey's late brother, William Hickey of near Charleston, also served on the Northwest Board of Trustees from 1999 until his death in late 2007.
Tallahatchie's second current representative on the NWCC board is Jamie Anderson of Charleston, who was appointed to the post in November 2007 following the death of William Hickey. Anderson has served for more than 15 years.
The other new NWCC board member joining that body in February was Dr. Carrie Skelton, who represents Marshall County.
