A Scobey man charged in the shooting death of a Marks teen and the attempted aggravated assault of two others in Charleston faces an upcoming murder trial in Tallahatchie County Circuit Court, and more than a dozen other cases are pending, according to documents on file at the circuit clerk’s office in Charleston.
Terrance C. Brooks, 19, of 4200 Rosebloom Road, was indicted Aug. 24 on a charge of murder in the death of 16-year-old Destini Jemerson.
On Sept. 19, he pleaded not guilty, and Circuit Judge Jimmy McClure ordered the case set for trial on April 17.
Jemerson was struck once in the back while she was the back-seat passenger in a car traveling southbound on Martin Luther King Drive shortly after 1 a.m. on Feb. 26, 2022.

He also is charged with two counts of the attempted aggravated assault of two male teens who were in the front seat of the vehicle but were not struck by gunfire.
Police deemed this incidence of shooting into a moving vehicle a “random act.” They found seven 9 mm spent casings and a cellphone along the street near the scene.
Brooks turned himself in at the Tallahatchie County Jail in Charleston on March 11.

» Joe Willie Sargent, 62, of 336 N. Market St., Charleston, has a case set for trial by McClure on April 17. Sargent is charged with aggravated assault for a June 2022 incident in which he allegedly hit a woman in the back of her head with a pistol. He has pleaded not guilty.
» Milton Earl Rushing Jr., 31, of 733 Sturdivant Road, Glendora, charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon for an April 2022 incident in which he allegedly possessed a Ruger 9 mm pistol, faces an April 17 trial date set by McClure. Rushing was previously convicted of burglary of a dwelling.
» Billy Carlton Smith III, 42, of 7616 Tatum Pond Road, Charleston, indicted on three counts of the sale of meth totaling less than 50 grams to a confidential informant in May 2021, waived arraignment and pleaded not guilty in October. No trial date has been set.
» The case of Brandon Tyler Whitten, 27, of 588 Whitten Road, Cascilla, indicted on charges of felony fleeing and taking possession of a motor vehicle in an August 2022 episode, has been set for an April 10 trial by Murphey. Whitten allegedly took a 2001 Honda Shadow motorcycle without permission and then drove it in a “reckless manner” while refusing to stop for a sheriff’s deputy.
» Larry Wayne McGee Jr., 54, of 2496 Enid Teasdale Road, Enid, faces an April 17 trial set by McClure on charges of grand larceny (valued at $5,000 to $25,000) and felony fleeing in connection with the July 2022 theft of a Viking stainless gas grill and then refusing to stop for a pursuing law enforcement officer. Previously convicted for possession of meth and conspiracy to commit grand larceny in 2003, McGee’s latest case will be handled according to a state habitual offender statute.
» Thomas Heath Hargett, 44, of 29858 Highway 32, Charleston, has been ordered by Murphey to stand trial April 10 on a charge of home improvement fraud. Hargett allegedly contracted with someone for home repair valued at $5,000 or more when, according to the indictment, he did not intend to perform the work. Previously convicted on three counts of grand larceny, including two in DeSoto County in 2006 and one in Tate in 2007, Hargett’s latest charge will be pursued under terms of the state’s habitual offender statute.
» David Rayford Roach, 33, of Enid, entered a plea of not guilty to an indictment of grand larceny for a July 2022 incident in which he allegedly stole a side-by-side valued at between $5,000 and $25,000. Circuit Judge Smith Murphey V ordered the case set for trial on April 10.
» Travarius Love, 26, of 286 E. Cypress St., Charleston, has a case set for trial before Murphey on April 10. Love was indicted on a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon for allegedly possessing a Glock pistol in September 2022. He was previously convicted in 2020 for possession of methamphetamine, 2 or more grams but less than 10.
» Enoch Irven Kiihnl, 43, of 338 Minga Dr., Grenada, indicted on a charge of grand larceny valued at $25,000 or more in connection with the September 2022 theft of a 2016 International ProStar big rig semitruck, has waived arraignment and entered a plea of not guilty on Jan. 25. The court file did not indicate a trial date has been set. Previously convicted in 2005 of statutory rape in Yalobusha County and in 2009 of burglary of a dwelling in Tallahatchie, Kiihnl will face the latest charge under the state’s habitual offender statute.
» Darrin Monteze Smith, 42, address unavailable, was indicted on a charge of grand larceny, valued at $1,000 to $5,000. No other information was available in the court file.
» Corderrius Clierre Williams, 19, of 1576 Marlin Circle, Tippo, was indicted Nov. 29 on a charge of attempted aggravated assault for an August 2022 incident in which he allegedly shot at a man with a hand gun, but missed. Murphey has ordered the case set for trial on April 10.
» Brittney Shardease Johnson, 31, address unavailable, was indicted Nov. 29 for first degree arson in connection with a May 2022 case in which she allegedly set fire to a house.
