BRUCE — The Charleston High School boys powerlifters won the Region 2-2A championship here Saturday.
“I am very proud of the boys and how hard they worked and did what I asked,” said boys’ coach Jeff Hollingsworth, who added that 10 of the team’s 12 lifters qualified for the North Half meet on Feb. 25 at East Union.
Seven of the 10 placed first in their respective weight class Saturday and the other three finished second.
He added that all Charleston lifters set personal records on multiple lifts.
Jaylon Brooks won first place in the 114-pound weight class.
Chad Boclair was first in the 123-pound class.
Brandon Henderson took first in the 132-pound class.
Timothy Kirk took first place in the 165-pound class.
Kelby James placed second in the 181-pound class.
Kam Andrews finished first in the 198-pound class.
Calvin Westbrook was first in the 208-pound class.
Lamar Frost was second in the 220-pound class.
Montra Sanford placed first in the 242-pound class.
Adonis Tellis took second place in super heavyweight.
