Kayleigh Gooch of Tutwiler recently won a first-place ribbon in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools’ District 1 Spelling Bee.
The district bee was held Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Delta Academy in Marks.
Gooch, the daughter of Tangela Gooch and Al Gooch, is a fourth-grader at Presbyterian Day School in Clarksdale.
She advances to compete against other district winners during the MAIS State Spelling Bee, to be held on Friday, Jan. 30, at Bayou Academy in Cleveland.
