Unemployment in Tallahatchie County rose from 3.3% in November to 3.5% in December, according to estimates released Tuesday by the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
In December, 180 Tallahatchians were unemployed, and 5,000 employed, from a labor force totaling 5,180.
In October, 170 local residents had been jobless, while 4,870 were working, among a labor force of 5,040.
December unemployment rates for some area counties, with November figures in parenthesis, are:

At 13.3%, Jefferson County had the highest unemployment rate in the state during December. Both Lafayette and Union counties posted the lowest rate of 2.5%.
