Unemployment in Tallahatchie County rose from 4.0% in January to 4.6% in February, according to estimates from the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
In February, 210 Tallahatchians were unemployed, and 4,350 employed, from a local civilian labor force totaling 4,570. The labor force includes every- one who has a job or is actively looking.
In January, 180 local residents had been jobless, while 4,380 were working, among a labor force of 4,560, according to MDES.
Tallahatchie County’s February unemployment rate was 1.6% higher than the 3.0% jobless rate of February 2024.

At 11.4%, Issaquena County had the highest unemployment rate in the state. At 2.9%, Rankin County had the lowest rate.
