TUTWILER — West Tallahatchie Habitat for Humanity soon will accept applications for its 48th house.
From Aug. 3 until Sept. 13, Habitat housing applications will be available at the West Tallahatchie Habitat Bargain Barn, Highway 49 in Tutwiler, Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 4:30, or by requesting a Habitat application via email to wthabitat@yahoo.com.
All applications must be completed, with requested documents attached, and turned in by Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. No applications will be accepted after the deadline.
West Tallahatchie Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization dedicated to building or rehabbing houses and selling them to qualified applicants in need of decent affordable housing.
Volunteers come to Tutwiler to help the local Habitat affiliate build the houses. In return, West Tallahatchie Habitat for Humanity sells the house to a qualifying family on a 20- to 30-year no-interest mortgage loan with payments ranging from $250 to $300 per month.
The criteria that Habitat looks for in applicants is their need for a home, their ability to pay back the mortgage and their willingness to partnership.
For more information, contact Habitat Affiliate Coordinator Sherri Hilliard at the Habitat office at 662-345-6200 or 662-645-0694.
