With two months remaining in the current fiscal year, Mississippi revenues are exceeding legislative estimates by $184.6 million through April.
A new report from the Legislative Budget Office on Monday shows total revenue collections in Mississippi for the month of April came in at $64.6 million, or 6.38% above estimates.
The LBO report also showed that the State of Mississippi has taken in $184.6 million, or 2.98%
more this fiscal year than estimated, with two months remaining in the 2026 Fiscal Year.

CHARLESTON — Barbara J. Workman, age 86, passed away Wednesday, April 29.
She was a retired executive assistant for the Deputy Assistant Secretar of Defense, Nuclear Matters.
A graveside service was held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at Bethel Cemetery. Womble Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Sturrock of Hedgesvile, West Virginia; her son, Robert Workman of Knoxville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, and 10 grest-grandchildren.

TUTWILER — The last of four known suspects in a recent shooting here has been apprehended, Tutwiler Police Chief Carlos Thompson announced Saturday afternoon.
He said Amarion Fletcher, 16, of 311 Jefferson Ave., Clarksdale, is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and is being held on a $350,000 bond.

The U.S. Drought Monitor’s April 21 map shows nearly half of the state is currently at an extreme drought level, Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson said Thursday.
Earlier this week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that 21 Mississippi counties had been designated as primary natural disaster areas due to recent drought conditions. Another 24 counties were listed among contiguous counties impacted by the disaster.

TUTWILER — While a critically injured gunshot victim continues to fight for his life, three Clarksdale teens have been arrested in connection with his shooting and a fourth is being sought, according to Tutwiler Police Chief Carlos Thompson.
Adrion Ellis, 16, and Marterrius Kennedy, 18, both of 311 Jefferson St., Clarksdale, and Tarrell Thompson Jr., 17, of Clarksdale, were taken into custody Tuesday night, the chief said.
