Warm and pleasant greetings to all.
We hope you are enjoying a good week. It’s always exciting this time of year to see the tractors and other equipment in the fields making applications, preparing for planting.
Lawns and yards are becoming beautiful as the pruning, trimming and mowing get going. Have you heard it’s bad luck to mow the lawn before Easter? If so, too many don’t mind taking the chance! Who doesn’t like or want a well-groomed yard? Certainly you would not neglect mowing to hide Easter eggs (if you still hide eggs), unless it’s a good excuse that satisfies you!
Our yard got the first mowing of the season last week. Now the rose bushes are in bloom. The oldest and most beautiful one is the largest plant my co-workers gave me a few years back as a memorial and it gets the most compliments, thank you!
It’s a pleasure greeting you when we are in and out at other places.
It was so good to see you at the Rally for a Cure on Saturday. I spoke to several of you.
My time was limited , but I wanted to report in. Seemingly, emotions were high with participation in activities. Everyone was cordial and enjoying the day. Your support means much.
We are all blessed to have others who care to call, send a note or ask about during the week. It was our pleasure to see some of Rosie Sims’ family. Rosie’s niece and several nephews were visiting with her last week. Rosie’s daughter Renee, from Texas, and her niece Janice, from California, as always, stopped in to see our family.
Tallahatchie County Retired Teachers Association (RTA) met in regular session last week at the Charleston Library. The agenda was accomplished. The scholarship committee announced the completion of the RTA application. These applications are available now.
Each year the RTA offers a scholarship to a graduating senior at both Tallahatchie County High schools. Charleston High School seniors and West Tallahatchie High School seniors may pick up applications from their school office.
RTA President Sevelda Taylor expects to receive the complete and accurate application on or before the deadline date of Friday, May 2, 2025. The committee will review applications and announce recipients.
Blue Cane Missionary Baptist Church family and Pastor Clinton Brown invite you to spring revival services, which began Wednesday, April 16, and continue through Friday, April 18, at 7 o’clock nightly.
Easter is on its way in the Lent season. The season is introduced with the cross displayed, Christ’s crucifixion. The purple wrap signifies the season of Lent, a period of preparation leading up to Easter. The white wrap signifies the Resurrection of Christ. He is risen!
We dress up for church services. Little ones say their speeches. We have more Easter baskets to choose from, filled with toys and trinkets for our children to enjoy.
We like ham for dinner. (What happened to the Lamb?) We like eggs prepared any way, boiled, deviled or scrambled. Some say eggs may be too expensive to hide. You may decide to use plastic, wooden or paper eggs. One lady will paint small potatoes for her children. You say as a child you enjoyed the “egg hunt” and you want the same tradition for your children. Don’t let the price of eggs diminish your family tradition!
The point is to enjoy Easter time and give praise for the real meaning. All four gospels tell the story. Read chapters: Matthew 26-28, Mark 15-16, Luke 22-24 and John 17-20.
We wish you joy, hope and renewal during this blessed season. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have to believe. (John 20:29)
Happy Easter!
