Farmers and managers are well into plowing and planting. Please drive safely as large equipment and tractors are on the roads and highways getting to and from the farm fields. Watch for unexpected turns. I've got farming on my mind!
Our community sends its sincere congratulations to Coach Craig Walker Sr. (and the Walker family) in honor of his legacy dedicated to students, especially devoted to young athletes. The Charleston High School running track and field is now proudly named “The Craig Walker Track Field.”
Do you sometimes find food stored in plastic containers spoiled in the refrigerator? Be sure to check the condition of containers first of all to be sure the container is food grade and intended for food storage. Most containers are regulated by the FDA.
Plastic containers get damaged when food is stored too warm and utensil scratched when cutting or scrapping out food. Do not use containers that are cracked, scratched or warped. This causes bacteria or leaches chemicals, especially when the container has been exposed to heat or strong detergent.
Food should be cool when stored in the container. Only heat food in microwave-safe containers. Bacteria growth spoils foods.
One beloved or traditional item at Easter dinner is the boiled/deviled eggs dish. Few people still hide real eggs as they did once upon a time. Real eggs are mostly used on the serving table. Many cooks have their own recipe for preparing this dish. The egg dish is made as plain, classic, supreme and in between until the recipe is so good it becomes the millionaire stuffed egg dish.
Everyone has their own tweak to make it a favorite. The deviled egg recipe is easy and makes a colorful presentation. Eggs should be properly cooked to maintain texture and taste and, of course, store boiled eggs properly in the refrigerator to avoid foodborne illness.
