We are counting down the days to our Gateway to the Delta Festival, and if you have not realized it yet, it is only one month away: Saturday, Oct. 10.
The music lineup has been released, the posters have arrived, the T-shirts have been ordered and the vendor spots are filling.
We are on track for another great day filled with lots of family fun.
The Gateway Planning Team knows that everyone is very busy these days, and they are working to simplify several festival components.
One such example is simplifying our normal Gateway pageant. No need to buy new clothes, fuss with hair, get to the stage early, and pray that your child will walk across that stage with a smile for the judges.
All you have to do this year is email a photo of your child or grandchild to CARE (care1092@att.net).
Children must be between the ages of 0 and 12. Photos do not have to be professional headshots, and CARE will print them to display the day of the festival.
While judges will select the Most Photogenic winner, members of the community will vote for the People’s Choice winner.
Both winners will be announced during the festival on Oct. 10 and receive a large prize basket filled with goodies.
Entries must be received in the CARE email by 5 p.m. on Sept. 15. Help us to continue to celebrate the fun of just being a kid by emailing your photos today.
After you view all the photos on display that morning, head on over to Kids Zone with your young festival attendee for even more fun.
Connie Greer and her team guarantee an action-packed sector of the Square which includes inflatables, games and face painting.
Back by request are the vehicles for touch-a-truck, and Mayor Sedrick Smith is polishing up his train for another year of rides. And, we have been told that numerous other characters will make their debut in Kids Zone 2026.
We have even heard that Spiderman may swing through for part of the day! Now that is a photo op!
