Warm and pleasant greetings to all. I have missed some weekly writing. Thank you for caring. Our son Reginald spent exactly one month with us, perhaps making up for his visit he missed last Christmas. Anyway, this, in part, gives an account for the missing Blue Cane-Little Hubbard community news.
We hope you are enjoying a good summer. We are well into the month of August. “Happy Back to School” and best wishes for a successful year. Hopefully, these first couple of weeks back to school have gotten you into a comfortable routine and all things are going smoothly from here.
It’s with mixed emotions and excitement for us to know our one and only grandchild entered the 9th grade. I know many have been there, done that and know this. But it’s exciting each year (for many reasons) for us.
Ethan turned 14 in July and enrolled at Central High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, last week. He’ll continue riding the bus. Only juniors and seniors are privileged to drive and park at school.
Not sure how long Ethan will be interested in band classes and playing trumpet. He’s interested now. He also participated in a two-week engineering camp at LSU this summer and was inspired to continue this learning experience at high school.
Back-to-school month perks up parents, guardians, teachers and students for a time to focus on education. Back to reading. Back to church for Christian education. In my day, the older folks thought, “You ought to get something in your head, child!” You listened and you learned (how) from the older folks.
Teachers are important and should be respected and compensated for a job well done. They have a lot of hurdles to cross before getting into the classroom, with credentials and other certifications and demands.
How many individuals do you see aspiring to become teachers? The teacher climate is not what it was, and maybe not what it should be. Things should get better for teachers. The news just reported over 9% of a teacher shortage nationwide. Education is important! Learning is important!
Do you attend or intend to participate in Sunday school? The basic purpose of Sunday school is Christian education. Sunday school is for all ages and an excellent way to minister to children and young people.
Older people enjoy Sunday school. They have been involved many years, know the stories, experiences, the true issues, learn and know about God, the Bible and God’s will for them. We enjoy telling others the “ old story.” Our church Sunday school study this quarter concerned the “New Creation.”
These last four lessons for August will focus on the “Great Hope of the Saints,” referenced from the book of Revelations.
This envisions a new home God has prepared for the redeemed. We hope many of you are continuing to enjoy your Bible studies. It makes for a better life for your family when you have Bible study. Our greatest job is not to explain the word of God but to extend it. What a better community and country it would be. Let God rule. He knows best.
Lest we forget those who may be facing difficult circumstances, dealing with health issues, bereavement and other decisions with concerns for their families, know that others care, too.
Enjoy life today. Be blessed.
