Warm holiday greetings to all. We hope you are enjoying a good week.
Many have been busy with last-minute shopping, decorating and attending scheduled appointments.
The Tallahatchie Retired Teachers Association met virtually last Tuesday evening with regular participation. President Sevelda Taylor opened the meeting with greetings and devotional, followed by prayer. Reports were given and approved. The group will not have its annual Christmas get-together. The group agreed on an incoming project planned for the new year. Dues are being collected and addresses updated for those members who have not reported. RTA participated in the Christmas parade Saturday. The next regularly scheduled RTA meeting is set for January.
Perhaps Santa got all his letters. Maybe by this time decorations are all in place.
It’s Christmastime.
My Christmas cactus won’t make blooms for this year as I had hoped. My last peek assured me no blooms this time. I’ll keep the plant inside anyway to keep it growing. I must buy a Christmas cactus plant to get a new start. Maybe the small window Christmas tree will replace the plant.
Speaking of Christmas trees, the most beautifully decorated Christmas tree adorns the Tallahatchie General Hospital entrance.
Safe travels to those who will be traveling during the holidays. If you are driving, take precautions. You are not trying to win a prize or be a hero for arriving first. Some say there are heroes and angels, too. Drive safely and enjoy your trip.
COVID has interfered with different aspects of our daily lives. Maybe we can change the channel for a minute and focus on something different and positive. Whether we are alone, a couple or a large gathering, we are in this time together.
We are all blessed at this season that we can find new experiences. Families and friends will gather to dine together. No paper plates for this meal. Pull out the china and silverware you have not used in a while. Mix in a serving piece with a different pattern that compliments your china pattern. You may want a large serving bowl with leaf pattern to coordinate the flower pattern on your china.
Your tablecloth does not have to be red, white or green. Choose a pattern that weaves with your dishes. Change the beverage glassware from your usual. These are a few things I’m doing this time. It’s not about everything matching, it’s about coordinating and using dishes displayed in the china cabinet. The meal is over. It’s time to do the dishes, but that’s another channel we could enjoy together! Enjoy your Christmas day dinner!
We hope our students did well with exams and feel refreshed to start Christmas holidays.
Many families have gift exchanges. Some families still enjoy the gift exchange and it’s become a highlight of the gathering.
Did you know if you have a gift card with less than $10 on it, the business is legally required to give you the rest of your balance in cash, if you ask?
Our community sends good wishes to all. Strength, peace and comfort to all who may be facing difficult challenges at this time. May we find joy in good tidings.
Our prayer is that your home is wrapped by His love, blessed with His presence and warmed by His abiding presence all through the year. Merry Christmas to all!
