Can you say humid? It has been extremely hot this past week and if you didn’t die from the heat, you could have drowned from the rain! My tomato plants loved it, though. They almost doubled in size. I’m hoping that I will have a good crop this year. I love tomato sandwiches, tomato gravy, fried green tomatoes, etc. There is absolutely nothing like growing your own tomatoes.
Facebook was a joy to look at Sunday. I enjoyed all of the sweet odes that were sent to their mothers. For me, Mother’s Day started out with a good cry and ended with a big smile thanks to my babies. My baby boy, Andy, called around 10 a.m. to wish me a happy Mother’s Day and to tell me he loved me. My daughter, Fallon, and grandbaby, Emily, showed up around lunch. I got some hugs and kisses, some cards and roses from them. To finish the night off, my son, Will, invited me to his house in Batesville for dinner. When I got to his house, I got some squeezes from Aubrey, another grandbaby. His wife, Katie, did a wonderful job on the lasagna! I left there full and happy. Being a mother is the hardest job that I have ever had, but it is also the most rewarding. The only grandbaby that I didn’t get to love was Nolan. He was with his mother, as it should be.
I hope the rain goes away, but the warm weather stays. I am almost ready to start filling up my pool. If I don’t have anything else, I’m going to have a pool! It’s my only enjoyment when living through a Mississippi summer. It’s nothing fancy or huge. It’s big enough for me and my husband and grandbabies to enjoy. Those babies look at that pool through the patio door all winter and dream of the day when the weather gets warm enough that they can get in. Emily told me yesterday that I needed to have water in the pool before she came out to my house again. Yes, she is quite sassy, but she knows how far to go.
I’ve been riding my motorcycle this past week and enjoying this weather. I am absolutely in love with my little street bike and get so much enjoyment just riding. I’ve named her my “Main Squeeze.” I don’t even have to have a destination. I just hop on it and ride, so if you see a woman riding on a motorcycle around Charleston or Grenada, it is probably me. My daddy gave me a love for motorcycles when I was a kid. We always had some kind of mini-bike or dirt bike to ride on and daddy always had a motorcycle. I guess the last one that Daddy had was the one he gave me when I was 18. It was much too big for me and I ended up trading it for a car. I’ve never lost the fever for one, though.
My grandson, Nolan, graduated Tuesday night, so I planned to be headed to Senatobia to attend. I think that it is pre-K that he is in, but I might be wrong. I’m sure after reading this, my son will correct me. Other than that, my week will be filled with doing the normal things that have to be done.
I’ve used up enough of your time on my boring life. If you are having a birthday this week, I hope you have a good one. Tell the people in your life that you love them and try to find a reason to smile every day.
Remember, the Lord is coming back, so be ready.
