Our meeting this month was called to order by our president, Virginia Murphree.
Our devotion was given by Alisha Pittman, taken from Colossians 3:12: “Therefore as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
All these are lifestyles that Christians should have.
The devotion centered around patience and gives an illustration of a child in a hurry to get to the pool, but along with her were her mother and grandmother. The grandmother had a recent fall and was using a walker to get around, so that meant they had to move slower than usual. She loved to sit on the deck by the pool and watch her grandchild.
The problem was that the child had no patience for that. She was in a hurry and only thought of herself.
In life, we deal on an adult level with this often. We miss opportunities to enjoy being with our friends, or doing something good for someone because we feel that we just don’t have the time. Add kindness, compassion, humility and gentleness and we will be among God’s chosen people, as the scripture says.
Lee Dell Sturgis gave our financial report and it was approved.
Then we were told that we had a meeting with the board of directors for our building, and elected Daniel Pittman as the senior chairperson. This will give us someone to keep a check on needs for maintaining our building. He had done some of the things that needed to be done and contacted someone to check on some leaks in our building, and all the screws in the roof will be replaced with larger ones, which should stop the leaks.
Our fruit baskets this month were sent to the family of R.P. Newman; Connie Simmons, a new member in our community; and Steven Sturgis. Our prayers went with each.
Alisha had brought some cups and saucers and Lee Dell showed us how to glue them together to make bird feeders.
Our refreshments were brought by Virginia Murphree and enjoyed by all.
