We have about gotten back on schedule and had our regular meeting at our building in Teasdale. Our meeting was called to order by President Virginia Murphree and then we had a time of devotion given by Lee Dale Sturgis.
She had a reading about faith, which is something we all need to have increased today. She told us about a little boy in a community that was in a drought and needed rain badly. They were to gather at a certain place and begin to pray for rain.
That time came and a young boy walked up holding an umbrella, and most of them laughed at him because it had been so long since it had rained. They asked why he had done something like that. His answer was that since they had gathered to pray for rain, he guessed that he should bring his umbrella. The only one there with faith to believe that their prayers would be answered.
Sadly, that is the kind of faith most of us have. We know God can, but do we believe he will? Our world is in trouble. Our country is in trouble and when we look at it like most people do, we pray for our country and other countries that are important to us? Do we go to bed at night believing when we get up in the morning, our leaders will have found a way they believe will help us?
I will admit, I don’t often do that. I always know it can happen but I am not shocked when the battle is still on. If there has ever been a time when we ask the Lord to increase our faith, the time is now.
Our fruit baskets went to Marty Martin, Bryan Douglas and Wanda Ivy. As usual we send so they will know we are concerned about them and are asking God to supply the need.
We had refreshments, and then our program chairman, Lee Dale Sturgis, brought a craft to do using small clay pots painted that looked like an Easter bunny, and I imagine there were some grandchildren that received them the next day and liked them.
We have had some new members come in this year and have the prospect for others. We need more of them. They will enjoy the fellowship, and we do some nice things to help people that have a need. People in our community are important to us.
