We gathered on May 19 for our regular monthly meeting. Many of our members have started vacation and are out having fun while we carry on with things on our agenda. Virginia Murphree, our president, called the meeting to order.
Brenda Wilkinson gave our devotion and it was a good one. She brought out that M & M candies had come up with something that is much like things we face today. She showed us that M&Ms had made each of the pieces of candy different from the other.
Of course, we know that not all of them are just alike, like our human race. We are all different, like our fingerprints. No one has the same fingerprint. Some of us are gifted with gifts to help others. Some of us can sing, some can play a musical instrument, some are good speakers, some not. Some of us are outgoing and some withdrawn. You get the picture.
The Word of God spells it out for us in the 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 — There are different kinds of gifts, but all for the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but all for the same Lord. There are different kinds of workings, but the same God works all of them in all men.
Then when we look at the candy we can see that they vary in our colors, too. Some are red, they are red hot, bold, competitive. Some are blue, calm, dependable, solid. Then yellow, they are the friendly, positive, creative, encouraging ones. Then we find a green, they are analytical, organized, practical, decisive. Orange is assertive, outgoing. And last, brown is warm, inviting, trustworthy, wholesome.
God puts all the above together in ways that we can all do work he wants us to do, and the way He uses each one to fill all the places He opens up for us.. When it comes right down to us, He sometimes has to give us a tuneup, when we seem to be drawn to the worldly things that don’t really help us, and draws us away for our own good.
Our fruit baskets this month go to Jimmy Manues, Maxine Moore and Kayla Rowe, and as usual our prayers go with them.
We had two very nice ladies visit with us who are working with AirMedCare, the ambulance service, air and ground. Suzanne Joslin, who is the Senior Program Director and Arlene Freeman who is the Membership Sales Manager. They gave us information to how we can get an insurance program that will cover us and anyone in our household to take care of the expenses if an ambulance, ground, or by air are needed. They gave illustration of people who had fees for $100,000 and we all know someone who was caught in this situation. Several of us already had a policy with them.
At that point, the meeting was adjourned and we were given some really good refreshments and with that we got to sit down and visit with friends.
