J R Dukes and friend, Joselynn Myers from Austin, Texas, went shopping at Bass Pro on Sunday. Joselynn is a student at Ole Miss.
Billy and Nancy Chambers visited their granddaughter Anna Pullen and family Sunday.
Some of the Dukes family cut the grass at Scobey Cemetery on Sunday. Diane said they had a good time putting out Easter flowers. It certainly is looking nice, Diane. She said Airport Baptist Church is having an Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday at 5.
Anna Pullen and Baby Jo went to Grenada on Saturday to the “Cottontail’s Candy Carcade.” Kathy Dukes, Roseann Rose and sons, John Luke and Logan, and Braxton and Conner Dukes also attended. It was reported a good time was had by all.
Happy birthday to Malinda Ford Martin on the 16th; to my sweet son, Timothy Sullivan, Julia Kerr and Ginny Sosebee, who all share a birthday on the 17th, Easter Sunday; and sweet Jackie Hyneman Griffis, who celebrates on the 18th. I hope all of you have a fun day!
Tommy and Debbie McCool got up early Sunday morning and went to Batesville for their breakfast date, and they motored on up to Senatobia after church to visit their son, Christopher and Samantha and her handsome grandsons. They spent the afternoon with them and then headed home. Hunter, Christopher’s oldest, was sick with a bad sinus infection but other than that, they were all good.
Our dinner guests Sunday were Donna Garripoli and Francesca Holliday. Later that afternoon, Waylon and Holly Dukes and daughter Haven Rose, Jason Beavers and Bubba Dukes visited. Thank goodness the men folks talked David into going to the ER.
David had been hurting since Wednesday with heartburn and finally Sunday afternoon he ended up going to Charleston for tests. After tests there, they sent him to Oxford by ambulance. The doctor confirmed that he did have a heart attack and they did a coronary angiogram Monday morning.
Sure enjoyed the sunshine and beauty of our USA flags flying in the breeze, and my sister Joyce Stevens and I shopping at a yard sale and then lunch.
A great Palm Sunday message was preached Sunday at Willow Springs Assembly of God, according to Martha Box, who said she drove over to church with a tough stomach pain, but the pain was gone by the time she arrived home. “The power of prayer! Bro. Darby still keeps us going!” Martha added.
Recipe for this week “Easter Rolls”
You will need crescent rolls, melted butter, large marshmallows, cinnamon and sugar. Bake these with your young children or your grandchildren.
1. Give each child a triangle of crescent rolls. This represents the cloth Jesus was wrapped in.
2. Give each child a marshmallow. This represents Jesus. Dip the marshmallow in melted butter. This represents the oils of embalming.
3. Roll the buttered marshmallow in cinnamon and sugar. This represents spices used to anoint the body.
4. Wrap the coated marshmallow tightly in the crescent roll, sealing it inside. This represents the wrapping of Jesus’ body after death.
Bake at 350 degrees for 19 to 12 minutes. The oven represents the tomb. (Pretend it was three days.) Let the rolls cool slightly. Open the “cloth” from Jesus’ body and find that he isn’t there! Jesus has risen!
