We enjoyed the couple of rains we got last week. For some reason, it feels more like fall to me now.
Diane Dukes and daughter-in-law Kathy Dukes went to Greenville Saturday morning to visit with Diane’s brother- in-law who is ill: A.C Parker and wife Annie and Little A.C and Barbara Parker. They all had a really good visit. Diane said it rained on them all the way. They stopped in Indianola and bought groceries and came on home to rest up a bit. Later that afternoon, they went to George Cossar State Park for the annual “trick-or-treat” party. Diane reported a good many people were there and they all seemed to be having a good time.
Tommy and Deborah McCool had planned a trip to Senatobia Sunday afternoon to see their son, Christopher McCool, but he and their grandsons have been sick with the flu. They are feeling better, but Tommy and Deborah decided to wait another week before going. So they went to Southaven, shopped and ate.
Martha Box said, “I’ve been so busy that I forgot to take care of me.” She had a couple of check-ups with her doctor friends. Her sister, Joyce Stevens, drove her to and from Greenwood, so Monday, Martha drove her to and from Oxford. Laughing, she said, “We are a day or two past 39.” Now that made your writer laugh!
Martha attended the wonderful musical Square Tuesday. She loves the music and visits with friends.
Martha enjoyed Sunday’s Pastor Appreciation Day at Willow Springs. Bro. Tommy Darby and Sister Sherry Darby are much loved for all they do for the church, friends and family, said Martha. She told Sister Sherry that she is the pastor’s backbone!
Brad and Frankie Holliday, Jake and Roseann Rose, Jimmy and Destiny Dukes, and Desiree Tidwell went to Tupelo this past Saturday night and for the Tupelo haunted castle and also went to the haunted slaughter house in Pontotoc. They all had a spooky good time.
I tell you, these young people are a lot braver than I ever dared to be!
I am so proud of my granddaughter, Francesca Holliday, R.N., for being nominated for The Daisy Award at her work place, Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, for clinical skill and, especially, her compassionate care, which exemplify the kind of nurse that patients, their families and BMH-Oxford recognize as an outstanding role model.
David and I were invited to Mark Hartley’s 66th birthday party Saturday night. We missed it. I had been to the doctor a few days before and started my antibiotics that day, even waking up during the night to take them so I would feel like going, but it seemed like I just kept getting worse. I know they had a good time because I saw some of the pictures on Facebook. Thank you, Mark and Faye, for the rolls and fish you brought by Sunday morning. We enjoyed it very much!
Debbie Hayles, Mali Jarrell and Shelia Jackson are back from Knoxville, Tennessee. Sheila said Noah Beverly Thurman’s memorial will be Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Ladies Auxiliary building in Teasdale.
Daughter Donna Garripoli and granddaughter Miranda Procella visited us for a little while Sunday afternoon. Donna hung a picture for me. Son Timothy came and ate beans, slaw and cornbread and before he left he swept the floors for us.
