Congratulations to J.R Dukes Trucking LLC. They have been in business for 50 years, as of March 8.
My phone says get ready for warmer weather. I’m ready to get outside, walk and smell the flowers and put my pot plants outdoors. They have been like me, cooped up too long.
I was coming out of the Dollar Tree store the other day as George and Libby Biddle were going in. My daughter, Donna, had met me there with some bacon that my granddaughter Miranda had picked up for me. George asked Donna if I was her sister! I started to give him a pack of my bacon for making me feel so good. Thank you, George. You made my day!
Vivian and Eddie Simmons celebrated Eddie’s birthday early with a trip to Mountain View, Arkansas. I bet it was beautiful this time of year.
Tiffannie Oldaker from Union City, Tennessee, visited Daisy and Mickey Isbell last week. Also, Kelsie Isbell from Pope hung out with them for the weekend! Daisy said they had a great time, going to Oxford to eat lunch Thursday and then going shopping at the mall in Southaven. Devren Isbell went with them to Lost Pizza Saturday. Sounds like you had a great week with family, Daisy! That’s what it’s all about!
Martha Box said she had her last pickup at school Wednesday. Her granddaughter, Marnie, is on spring break this week.
On Friday, Martha rode to Charleston with her sister, Joyce Thompson. They ate a great lunch at the Marathon Station, behind Bumpers. It was some wonderful southern cooking and great servers. She said they will do it again! Great time Friday night with terrific music and friends in Grenada.
Sunday was a blessed day, noted Martha, as she slept late but made it to a great service at Tillatoba Baptist, where Brother Ricky Harris shared Jesus!
Our grandson, Bradley, went to watch Ole Miss vs. Purdue Saturday. Ole Miss won with a walk-off home run! After the game, Bradley got to go on the field to meet the players, take pictures and have the players autograph his baseball. He was one excited young man.
Roseann Rose, Frankie Holliday, Emily Counts, Destiny Dukes and Rossalan Leard all went to Nashville this past weekend to celebrate Rossalan’s 21st birthday. Rossalan turned 21 on March 10. They left Friday and came back Sunday. I bet Rossalan will remember her 21st birthday for a while!
Anna Pullen and daughter Joanna, and Anna’s friend Cody Fields and her daughter, Riley Ann of Oxford, went to Disney on Ice in Southaven Saturday and had a great time. Anna and Cody work together and Joanna and Riley are good friends and they take dance lessons together and attend the same daycare.
Anna Pullen and her grandmother, Nancy Chambers, went shopping Friday and bought Diane Dukes two swans to put by her pool this summer. They had a good time spending time together.
Sam Pullen received an Emerald Transfer Scholarship at Delta State University to get his bachelor’s degree in the fall.
Anna and Joanna Pullen had lunch Sunday after church with Diann Vance, who is Anna’s grandmother and Joanna’s great-grandmother. They always enjoy their time together.
Faye Hartley and Kristie went to watch Rowland, Fay’s grandson, play ball in New Albany Saturday.
I woke up Monday morning, March 13, with my childhood friend, Myrtle Earlene (Penny) Ellett Nail on my mind. If Penny was still living, we would be celebrating her 80th birthday, I think. She never would tell her right age but she would say, “Tillie, I’m a lot younger than you!” Happy birthday, my friend! I love you and miss you calling me and singing the birthday song to me.
Happy anniversary to Shannon and Dale Dukes on the 15th. I hope this sweet couple have many more years to celebrate.
Belated happy birthday to Myra Mitchell Harville, who celebrated March 10; to Wendy Dempsey on the 11th; to Addison and Abbigail Newsom on the 12th; Billy Edwards on the 16th; Jackie Nail on the 17th; Kay Calder Orrin on the 18th; Greg Lukacs, Richard Ross, Lisa Havens and our daughter-in-love, Brandy Deck on the 19th; Amanda Ayers Gunn, Curtis Taylor and Tristian Nail Taylor on the 21st; and Hayden Wooldridge on the 22nd. May you all have a great day celebrating your special day!
