Little miss Haven Rose Dukes had a girls play date at her home in Tillatoba, Saturday, April 15. Attending were Jessie, Josie and Martha Watkins of Grenada and Joanna Pullen with her parents, Sam and Anna Pullen. Four lil redheads and one blonde. They had a great time playing outside in the beautiful sunshine. I don’t think they had to be rocked to sleep Saturday night!
Porch visiting last week was Allen Rodgers. Allen is the son of Ruby Rogers and the late James “Chief” Rogers. Allen and his wife recently lost their home in a fire and lost everything. His mother, Miss Ruby, is in a nursing home in Batesville.
Congratulations to Teresa Jaco Bailey for being Swift employee of the month. Now, if they will let her off some to go fishing, everything will be fine.
Nothing going on with us, says Deborah McCool. Tommy has been down in his back and it’s giving him trouble. He is going back to the doctor this week and they will be checking out some more things. Deborah said they are very thankful for their wonderful son-in-law, Jason Beavers. Jason went down Sunday afternoon and mowed their yard because Tommy couldn't. Deborah tried but she still can’t get the hang of the zero turn very well, still practicing. Good luck, Deborah! They say once you get the hang of it that it is a piece of cake! The first time we got a new lawn mower, my clothes line post will tell you different! Needless to say, I’m not allowed to get on any mowers in our yard. All I did was rearrange the clothes line!
Ginger and Phil Harrison rode to Clarksdale on Saturday and met their son, Jake, at the Juke Joint festival. That was the first time they had been. Ginger said they had a really good time. The weather was very nice.
Otey Dahl is staying with Jeff Chambers for a while. Otey has been sick for several months but finally looks like he is on the road to recovery. Praying for you, Otey.
Martha Box said this time flew past so fast she was flabbergasted! Martha means news time came fast. Martha reported a lovely Easter Sunday and a great service at Pine Grove. Wonderful message from Bro. Scarborough of Jesus prepping for His death and His rising. She said she mostly worked about home last week, digging and preparing garden beds. She also rode about Sardis with her sister, Joyce Stevens, Saturday before having a “wonderful visit” at Tillatoba Baptist Church Sunday. She said Bro. Harris shares the word so spiritually and she also had a great visit with neighbors there. “HE, our LORD, lifts me up every daylight!” says Martha.
Diane Dukes is all excited about her new kitchen make-over. She had a new bar house sink installed and all cabinets taken down, sanded and painted. It’s going to be beautiful.
I received a phone call from my cousin, Phillip Tillman, the other day wanting information about the Tillatoba school, and if there was a high school there or not. I thought there was but I’m not sure. He is writing a book about the history of Tillatoba, so he has to know the true facts.

Thought for the day: The secret of achievement is to not let what you’re doing get to you before you get to it.
