Well, sadly, this will be our last news column for 2023, but happier and healthier times are just ahead of us, I pray. Another new year! Thank you, Father, for giving us the start of another new year in just a few more days!
Congratulations to the Jacob and Kellie Young family on the newest member to their family, “Wagner,” a precious li’l goat. Jude and Elena are beside themselves with their new playmate.
Saturday, Dec. 16, there was a Christmas decorating party at Tillatoba Baptist Church. The little ones got to wear their pajamas and they got to keep the cookies they decorated. Fun time for the little ones!
Last Tuesday, I went to the eye clinic in Oxford to find out they are going to start back the injections in my eyes after Christmas. While I was getting some tests on my eyes, David struck up a conversation with a lady in the waiting room and it was Josephine Booker. Booker being her maiden name. She knew all the old-timers of Tillatoba that I remembered when I was a young girl growing up. Said my daddy was a good man. You always like to hear news like that!
After we left the clinic, we went to Chili’s and ate lunch.
Wanda Crawford had a “fender bender” a few weeks ago getting on the interstate at Batesville and they totaled her vehicle. Her daughter, Candice Wiseman, came from Tennessee Thursday and helped her mother shop for another ride. You better slow that Mustang down, Sally!
Belated happy birthday to Krislyn Brewer on the 21st and to Sheryn Goode, who celebrated the 27th. I hope you both had a great day!
Little miss Haven Rose Dukes attended a birthday party for her friends Jensie and Josie at Jolly Jumpers in Grenada Sunday afternoon. I think her mother, Holly, had a hard time getting her to leave after the party!
Lynn Marceleno was all smiles last week because she was going to get to see both of her children, Joseph Little and wife Jesse and Lynn’s daughter, Carley and Josh. I’m sure y’all had a wonderful Christmas!

Recipe for the week: Apple Surprise
One can of applesauce
One can sliced apples
1-1/4 cup sugar
Mix these three ingredients together and put in a buttered 9x3 casserole dish.
Topping:
One cup quick-cooking oats
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup flour
Mix ingredients together and press down firmly on top of first three ingredients. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Heat before serving.
