Freda and Frank Weir visited with us Saturday afternoon. It was Frank’s birthday and I sent them home with a sack of sweet tators.
Love and sympathy to the William Baucum Chambers family of Tillatoba. He passed away Good Friday, March 29, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Timothy Sullivan, Scotty and Stephanie Chambers and Josh Littlejohn enjoyed an evening of fun Saturday at an Easter egg hunt at Grenada Lake. This was a Chambers event and Tim was glad that he got to visit with Betty Sue Chambers Garrison.
On Easter Sunday, daughter Donna Garripoli and granddaughter Miranda Procella and Summer Procella brought up a wonderful Easter dinner. Before leaving, they tidied up my kitchen. What a wonderful day it was for us. I’m still down in my back and when we went to Grenada early Monday morning, doctors’ offices were closed and clinics were full. Had to come back home hurting.
Martha Box said the more she tries to do, the less she gets done. She said she needs to work harder on her brand new attitude! She is thinking it may be time to let everyone else do her work while she sips her tea! Sounds like a plan to me. Martha!
Martha had a lovely eve with granddaughter Marnie, enjoying the “In Debt” music group and their great singing and picking. On Sunday, she heard a “wonderful Easter message” at Pine Grove Church. Bro. Truman Scarborough shared it with such spirit, she said. And the music was “wow!” Martha added. “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow!” said Martha, who noted that after church they landed at her place for a great meal and visit. “They all cooked something delicious!” she said. “Always wonderful to have all together and happy.”
I got a loving phone call from my cousin Phillip Tillman Saturday. It’s always good to hear from Phillip and to see what he’s up to. He had been watching a ballgame but sleep overtook him and he didn’t know who won! Phillip, you are too young to fall asleep during an exciting ballgame.
Freddie Wayne and Jojo McClanahan visited Bobby Joe McClanahan Sunday afternoon at a hospital in Jackson.
Saturday, Deborah McCool said they worked in their yard all day and when Tommy came in from work, he mowed. Sunday after church, they went to Batesville for some shopping and eating out then returned home to clean out their sheds. Good thing daughter Kimberly and Jason showed up to help or they would have never finished them. The girls showed up just as they were finished, noted Deborah, who called it their “good timing.” Afterward, they all sat on the front porch and visited.
Please pray for Eddie Fly of Coffeeville. The last report I heard, he was to have surgery on his arm. Eddie’s injuries are showing improvement, although he still has a prolonged recovery and several surgeries ahead.

Recipe for the week: “Donna’s Terrific Brownies”
For the brownie batter:
1 box devil’s food chocolate cake mix
1 cup evaporated milk
½ cup (1 stick) butter, melted
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
For the caramel filling:
11-ounce bag caramels, unwrapped
⅓ cup evaporated milk
Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Spray 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
In a medium bowl, combine one box devil’s food chocolate cake mix, 1 cup evaporated milk and 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted. Mix until combined (batter will be thick).
Spread half of the batter into the baking pan (we’ll use the other half later). Put the baking dish in the oven and bake for 15 minutes. While it is baking, start making your caramel filling.
In a medium sauce pan, over medium heat, combine 11-ounce bag of caramels, unwrapped, with 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Stir frequently until caramel is melted and smooth.
When brownie bottom is finished baking (it will only be partially baked), take out of oven and sprinkle with 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips. Then drizzle with prepared caramel sauce.
Take the rest of the cake batter and drop by teaspoonfuls onto the caramel layer. Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes (until the center is set).
Thought for the day: Nothing is impossible. The word itself says, “I’m possible.”
