“Tea parties are not just an activity for little girls and their dolls. Twenty-three ladies and girls gathered at Tillatoba Baptist Church (TBC) the Saturday before Mother’s Day to celebrate all of the special women in their lives, eat delicious food and drink tea (out of heirloom China cups). The Teacup Story, which is based on Jeremiah 18:6, was read as a reminder that even though they go through fire and hard times, God is molding them into the beautiful creations that He always intended them to be. A game of Bible trivia was a fun reprieve before the party ended.
“TBC hosts many events throughout the year that are open to the community. They believe that church isn’t just a sermon on Sunday mornings, although they certainly do have that, as well as on Sunday nights, but it is a place where community is formed. If you need somewhere to belong, be encouraged, or join a village that will help you and support you, please consider attending one of our services. We will be happy to meet you and God will be glad you are there.
“On May 26, Tillatoba Baptist will acknowledge all graduates during their morning service. If you have someone special you would like them to celebrate, then please contact them on Facebook @tillatobabaptist.
“On June 16, a Father’s Day lunch will be provided immediately following the morning service. Everyone is welcome!”
Thank you, Kellie, for writing that article!
I had a wonderful surprise visit from my sister and brother-in-love, Ann and Tommy Hudson, one day last week. They brought me two plants for my birthday. David and Tim planted them and now I’m waiting on the rain. Ann and I enjoyed my swing while they were here.
Sunday, Brad, Frankie and Bradley Holliday, Donna Garripoli and Tim Sullivan ate lunch with us. David fixed lasagna, candied yams and salad and Donna made a strawberry cake. It was all so good!
Over the weekend, my great-grandson, Bradley Holliday, and his travel ball baseball team, the Grenada Sluggers, traveled to Winona for a Mother’s Day tournament. After 12 long hours of baseball, it was the Grenada Rockets vs. the Grenada Sluggers in the championship. The Grenada Rockets won the championship and dedicated their win to their teammate, Nolan Mooney, who is currently in the hospital. Please keep Nolan and his family in your prayers.
Rowland Hartley’s team, the Grenada Rockets, won the tournament in Winona Saturday and Rowland got the MVP award. His grandmother, Faye Hartley, said she was too excited.
Myra Jackson Dempsey is still enjoying Arizona. I hope she isn’t liking it too much!
Ginger and Phil Harrison had a great weekend. They celebrated Josh’s birthday with Diane on Friday at Martin’s. Something different. On Saturday, they celebrated Addison and Josh’s birthday and Mother’s Day with Moma. They had a full house but missed Melinda Box, as she had to work. On Sunday, they enjoyed a fabulous lunch by Diane Hill with moma and Linda Harrison. It’s nice having both boys home.
Li'l Hallie Bren DeLoach celebrated her second birthday Sunday with a party Saturday! She had a great weekend celebrating with family and friends.
Martha Box had a great time last weekend in Texas, where she and sister, Joyce Stevens, went to their brother’s place in Palestine. What a wonderful reunion with his family.
Joyce and Martha went to visit Larry Stephens at Karen's house in Enid Monday and rested about all week with a bit of a cold.
Martha said she had a great time at her place Saturday celebrating Josh’s and Addie’s birthday and Mother’s Day. Great time, good food.
Martha Box said, “Wow! What a Mother’s Day message at Pine Grove. Bro. Truman Scarborough so invites the Holy Spirit with his message! Mother’s Day celebration again at Diane Hill’s. Jake and Diane cooked such a great meal while we just had a great visit. Ginger, Linda, Diane and I together had the kitchen rocking with laughter a few times. Bet those boys were in their rolling eyes as they laughed at us.”
Daisy Isbell went to be with her daughter, Erika Anderson, for the weekend in Kosciusko. Daisy watched Kaleb, her grandson, play ball Friday. Then they rode down the Natchez Trace to the tail end of their festival. They had antique cars, mule-drawn buggy rides, a kangaroo, llama, sheep and goats. Then Sunday morning, they went to Huntington St. Church of Christ where Daisy’s son-in-law, Will, preaches. She also visited with their daughter, Kayla Ann, and her beau Josh.
Lynn Marceleno spent Mother’s Day weekend in the Smoky Mountains with her daughter, Carley, and Josh Davila.
Happy birthday to Daisy Walton Isbell and Jared Sturdivant, who celebrate the 16th; Faith Tillman and Joy Walton, who celebrate the 17th; Sherry Thornburg, on the 18th; Liz McKinney on the 20th; and Junior Dukes, my first grandson, and Marilyn Barton, who share a birthday on the 22nd. I pray you all have a wonderful day!
Thought for the day: The greatest good you can do for another is not just share your riches, but to reveal to him his own.
