WEBB — Pecan Avenue neighbors recently published books independently.
Denise Calhoun, who is vice mayor of the town of Webb, a minister, educator, mom and the founder of Faithin’it Life Coaching (http://www.faithinitllc.com), recently added the title of author to her resume.
Contessa Lattimore Cain, a retired Mississippi licensed children’s mental health therapist, stay-at-home mom, home-schooling mom and new YouTube blogger at Thecain bunch, has done likewise.
» Calhoun’s book, titled “Purposeful Journaling,” is described as “a remarkable guided journal that assists in the journey of self-discipline, reflection and discovery by using thought-provoking prompts along with scriptures and quotes.”
The journal also includes snippets of Calhoun’s life, including her own journey through some of life’s challenges.
Calhoun’s book features printed lines to allow the reader to engage and answer some questions with ease and focus.
“This journal aids in helping you to discover who you have truly been called to be by helping to remove barriers,” the description continues. “Reviewers have called this journal, therapy in a book.”
Calhoun’s book can be purchased on Amazon.com, or during a book signing scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 19, from 2-4 p.m., at the Tutwiler Activities & Convention Complex in Tutwiler.
» Cain’s book, “A Quilt for Jr.,” is a children’s book that introduces fun and meaningful ways to welcome a sibling into the household of an only child through bonding and family tradition, according to a description.
“Gifts can be many things, from toys to flowers, but the best gifts are made with love and by hand. Come along with Chloe as she puts together the perfect gift for her little brother Jr.,” it continues.
Making a gift for her baby brother sparks a love of quilting for Chloe.
The author said the book has a definite mission: to save the tradition of quilting.
Cain’s mother, a quilter, was one of the original members of the Tutwiler Quilters program at the Tutwiler Community Education Center. The Tutwiler Quilters were recently featured on a CBS News segment for the CBS Mornings show.
Cain’s book is available at Amazon.com, Rakuten kobo (kobo.com), Barnes & Noble, booksamillion.com and the Cain House Publishing & Quilting website at www.chpaq.com.
