Are you a high school graduating senior? If so, educational scholarships are available.
The Community Friends of ICS announces the sponsorship of 28 educational scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to be given to two seniors in each of the 14 counties served by ICS, including Benton, Clay, DeSoto, Grenada, Lafayette, Lowndes, Marshall Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Panola, Quitman, Tallahatchie, Tate and Tunica.
The scholarship is for the first year of college or vocational training. Any high school senior who is a former Head Start student or who has a sister or brother currently enrolled in Head Start may apply.
Applicants must complete an application form, which requires a typed composition on, “How This Scholarship Will Benefit Me.” Applicants must also obtain a written recommendation from their principal, guidance counselor or teacher, and must reside in one of the aforementioned counties. Applicants must be eligible to enroll in an academic, vocational or technical institution, and must submit proof of enrollment before receiving the award.
Application forms may be obtained from a high school counselor or local Head Start center, or by calling the ICS central office at 662-252-1582, ext. 159 or 162, or by writing to Community Friends of ICS Scholarship Committee, Attn.: Fannie Lampley, P.O. Box 5711, Holly Springs, MS 38634.
All completed applications must be returned to the same address, postmarked by March 18. Those chosen to receive the awards will be notified by mail.
