Local band SLASH has been added to the entertainment lineup for the March 30 Charleston Mayor’s Charity Ball, Mayor Sedrick Smith has announced.
SLASH joins previously announced entertainer Charles “CC” Carter of Petal.
SLASH plays all genres of music from rock to Southern country favorites. The music group features lead singer Joseph Lindley, Roger Albritton on bass, Kelvin Simmons on guitar and Steve Simmons on drums.
Carter's one-man show features him singing, playing the flute and saxophone and serving as DJ for musical numbers across multiple genres including soul, jazz and gospel.
The ball, a benefit for the local American Cancer Society, will begin at 6 p.m. in Alford’s Gym on the Charleston Middle School campus.
A buffet-style meal will be served, followed by a formal program of speakers, presentations, and music that always draws some attendees to the dance floor, er, court.
Tickets are $40 and may be purchased at Charleston City Hall and Charleston Arts Center, aka CARE building.
For more information, contact Charleston City Hall at 662-647-8612 or ball president Carolyn Johnson at 662-647-1346.
