Charleston Magnolia Garden Club (CMGC) members and volunteers toiled last week transitioning outdoor planters ringing Charleston's Court Square from spring foliage to summer foliage for the upcoming summer season.
The 12 large metal planters and an historic concrete horse trough turned planter, resting just off the northeast corner of the Tallahatchie County Courthouse lawn, had welcomed springtime with a rainbow of tulips and other greenery planted and tended by the CMGC.
Now, the time had come to make over the planters for preferred seasonal offerings.
Advance crews last week harvested tulip bulbs for reuse later and cleared out other vegetation to prepare the soil for summer planting.
Seasonal favorites lantana, sweet potato vine and vibrant, colorful coleus were then introduced to the planters, creating a fresh new perspective for local residents and visitors to the city alike.
