Charleston High School girls’ season ends in second round

The Charleston High School Lady Tigers’ 2024 basketball season ended with a second-round home playoff loss to Calhoun City.

The Lady Wildcats entered the Tigers Den Friday night and exited with a 57-40 victory to advance to a quarterfinals match against New Site on Feb. 23.

The Lady Tigers finished the campaign with an impressive overall mark of 21-3, while Calhoun City improved to 23-2.

New Site has a record of 21-8 and advanced to the quarterfinals by virtue of a 64-34 blowout win against the Union Yellowjackets, who finished at 19-6.

Charleston’s ladies went undefeated in Region 3-2A play to earn a second consecutive region championship.

The Lady Tigers had won 17 games in a row before last week’s second-round defeat.
