The Tallahatchie County circuit clerk’s office in Charleston will be open a half day for the next two Saturdays to facilitate in-person absentee voting for the Jan. 9 special election in Education District 7.
Circuit Clerk Daphane Neal said the office will open 8 a.m. until noon on Dec. 30 and again Jan. 6 — the last two Saturdays before the election.
James “Honey” Johnson, 70, and Santrail Hunt-Kuykendall, 38, both of Charleston, are competing for the ED 7 seat on the East Tallahatchie School District Board of Trustees that Hunt-Kuykendall now occupies.
Some voters in the Charleston 1, 2 and 3, and Spring Hill precincts are eligible to vote in the race. Registered voters within the boundaries of ED 7 should have received notification from the circuit clerk’s office, Neal said. Call her office at 662-647-8758 with any questions.
