Charleston native Sherika L. Bradford has been recognized by the Ole Miss Alumni Association (OMAA) as a member of its “40 Under 40” class for 2024.
The program celebrates the personal, professional and philanthropic achievements of successful University of Mississippi graduates under the age of 40, according to a news release from the group.
Recipients will be recognized with a ceremony on April 12 as part of Young Alumni Weekend, which includes a Barbecue for Books fundraiser at Swayze Field when Ole Miss baseball hosts Mississippi State.
“This year’s class of 40 Under 40 is outstanding, and we can’t wait to welcome them back to campus to honor their accomplishments,” said OMAA CEO Kirk Purdom. “These talented individuals exemplify leadership in their industries and communities, and I am thrilled that we can showcase their achievements through this program of recognition.”
Nominations for 40 Under 40 were open from October to December. More than 500 nominations were received.
Honorees must be active members of the Alumni Association, have made a significant impact on their industry or field, have civic or professional achievements, aspire to uphold the core values of the UM Creed, have earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a lifelong relationship with the university and the OMAA.
Bradford, a 2006 graduate of Charleston High School, earned a 2011 Bachelor of Arts from Ole Miss while participating in the university’s ROTC program.
She currently calls Savannah, Georgia, home, but the 18-year veteran of the U.S. Army spends a lot of time away performing her duties as a support operations deputy.
After being promoted to the rank of major in March 2022, Bradford became a June 2022 graduate of the Army’s Command General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
The daughter of the late Maggie and Jimmy Farris, Bradford presently is forward deployed to Poland with the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade. Even so, she said she has registered and plans to attend the Ole Miss ceremony in mid-April.
